Since 1997, when a group of visionary neighbors proposed turning the abandoned Union Pacific
railroad line into a greenbelt park, the 3.5-mile Katy Trail has been one of our city's most important public spaces and destinations. The mission of
Friends of the Katy Trail is to maintain, enhance, and advocate for the Katy Trail as the premier trail for recreation, wellness, and alternative transportation in the City of Dallas.
Community support of the Katy Trail funds essential maintenance and amenities, such as lights, water for people and pets, landscaping, security patrols, signage, and ongoing improvements.
