Event BeneficiaryKaty Trail Ice House Invitational
The Katy Trail Ice House Invitational is a 501(c)(3) public charity that raises money for the Friends of Katy Trail through its annual golf tournament. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Friends of the Katy Trail, the nonprofit organization responsible for trail maintenance and improvements. Although owned by the city of Dallas, Friends of the Katy Trail is responsible for raising over a million dollars each year to keep the Katy Trail in peak condition.
The Katy Trail is the crucial centerpiece of the region's planned network of bike trails. Its 3.5-mile path runs through the Uptown and Oak Lawn areas of Dallas, following the path of the old Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, which was known as MKT or the Katy. The Trail features a landscaped pedestrian, inline skating and bicycle trail system that currently travels from the American Airlines Center in Victory Park to Airline Drive. Next to the concrete path is a soft recycled-rubber track built parallel for runners.
